Scoping Report released

Monaro Rock have submitted a Scoping Report for the Monaro Rock Quarry. This is the first formal step in the application process.

The NSW Planning page for the Monaro Rock Quarry is here:

There is not a timeline or deadline yet, and it is not time to make submissions. It is time to start getting ready, though.

The Scoping Report is from Monaro Rock to the NSW government, advising of their intent. Now it has been submitted, the government is preparing the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs). We currently don't know how long this process will take, but we are expecting a few weeks. After that, Monaro Rock will prepare or refine their Environmental Impact Statement to address the SEARs, and once these are submitted and published, the community has the opportunity to submit responses.

We, the opposition committee, have our preparations underway, and will be reaching out to the community for support and assistance in the coming days and weeks.

The community response so far has been outstanding, but we are only just beginning. We are looking to spread the message to affected areas of the ACT and Googong, and to the wider community, to send a loud and clear message to the company, NSW and ACT governments, QPRC and federal government that the community rejects this quarry.
